Welcome to Boy Scout Troop 874!
Be Prepared... the meaning of the motto is that a scout must prepare himself by previous thinking out and practicing how to act on any accident or emergency so that he is never taken by surprise." — Sir Robert Baden-Powell
About Troop 874
Troop 874 was established in 1997 and is sponsored by the First Christian Church of Carrollton. The Troop offers a year round scouting program that emphasizes basic scouting skills and ideals. Backpacking and bicycling are popular with this troop and we're seeing a growing interest in wilderness survival and canoeing.
We offer several stages of programs for our youth: The first stage is called "Trail to First Class", and is geared for the incoming Webelos and new scouts to help them work towards their First Class rank. Following First class, is Star to Life. Once Life rank is achieved, the scout begins his trek towards Eagle.

Where We Meet
We meet every Wednesday evening, from 7:00 to 8:30PM at First Christian Church of Carrollton at the intersection of Josey Lane and Walnut.
What We Do
The purpose of the Troop is to help young boys grow into responsible young men. Scouting will teach them leadership, self-reliance and positive mental attitudes. We try to teach them to follow the Scout Oath and Scout Law through their life. We like to have fun while learning our Scouting skills.
Advancement is an exciting part of the Troop's program and we all take pride seeing our Scouts advance along the Trail to Eagle. As they attain their goal of Eagle rank, each is recognized by his own special ceremony, an occasion he will remember fondly the rest of his life.
The troop has campouts every month except August. Our campouts are generally done Philmont style (Backpacking!) and are typically held on BSA properties. In addition to Trail to First Class advancement activities, the troop often has merit badge offerings at the campouts (i.e. Camping, Wilderness Survival, Pioneering, First Aid, Swimming, etc.). Hiking, Cooking and Leave No Trace skills and principles are emphasized on every campout.
